This special edition of IsReads was coordinated by Sherrie Flick and Adam Atkinson for SPF, the Pittsburgh Small Press festival.
In July 2009, the Gist Street Reading Series and Open Thread worked with IsReads to create a Pittsburgh Special Edition, featuring a selection of the poems from IsReads 5 and a second selection curated by Flick and Atkinson, with a batch of poems from the Open Thread Regional Review.
To commemmorate the occasion, The City of Pittsburgh declared July 21, 2009 "The Journal Outdoors Day."
