about Baltimore Is Reads is an
outdoor poetry journal. There is a
Summer Issue and a Winter Issue. An outdoor journal is
different from an indoor journal in that it cannot be read inside. The pages of the journal are posted around
Baltimore (“The City That Reads”) on light posts, shopping carts, crumbling
houses, and other places like that. This website is the
documentation of the journal, but it is not the journal. Here you can read the poems, but you cannot
hear the cars, smell the busted sewer pipes, and feel the mystery of
encountering the poem in its printed environment. It’s the contention of the outdoor journal
that, as these details change the reading, they change the poem. Check out the MAP
to get a sense of the city, and what the poems look like out there, in the
